DOT Tot History & Philosophy
DOT Tot Child Care Center was established in 1983 with the primary goal of providing a well-rounded, carefully planned, and developmentally appropriate curriculum in a loving atmosphere. DOT Tot also aims to maintain its status as a model child care program - serving as a resource for other childcare facilities across the state, and providing appropriate, carefully-monitored opportunities for training and research in early childhood care and education.
The Board of Directors that guides DOT Tot consists of parents of the children enrolled at the center. As a parent run facility, decisions are always made with the best interests of the children in mind, because it affects our little ones too! In addition, your concerns are heard and acted upon within days rather than weeks. Please know that we look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions and that we encourage you to participate in both, Board and Center activities.
The Board and the staff hope that every child’s experience at DOT Tot will be an enriching and wonderful one. We encourage family participation, and offer ample opportunities for parents and guardians to be involved during their children's time here. We believe that you are your child's most important teacher, and as such the most critical component in providing a high quality program for your child. DOT Tot’s goal is full integration of parents/guardians, staff, and the Board in a cooperative effort to enhance and enrich your child's early educational experience.
DOT Tot’s director and staff are a vital part of the child care center. Our current director will be celebrating 17 years at DOT Tot in July 2022. One of our staff members has been with the child care center since we opened in 1983, and another one started in 1985, that’s nearly 40 years of service!! The only way to retain staff for that long is by hiring people who truly love what they do, and that’s what we strive to do at DOT Tot.

Parent Participation at DOT Tot
DOT Tot is a parent-run corporation. The continued success of DOT Tot is possible with the support and participation of each and every parent or guardian. There are a variety of fun and creative ways for parents or guardians to contribute to the center.
